  • Finding discontinued tools...

Being new to the HVAC industry I am seeking out some tools that my Journeyman told me I should try to get. I have been using his and have become very comfortable with the Ridgid brand and wish to get the same set he has. Unfortunately Ridgid has discontinued these tools and I am unable to get them from any of the supply houses in the area. These are the tools I am looking for...

    8" Slip Joint Pliers p# 16458
    7" Diagonal Cutters p#16483
    8" Longnose Pliers p#16488

If anyone can point me in a new direction it would be much appreciated. On a side note I have checked Craigslist, EBay and most other online sources.

Just buy channel lock or craftsman brand and you'll be fine.
    Buy cheap, buy twice.

Yup, neither of those retailers has them in stock. The thing that confuses me is that they have been discontinued for over a year, but yet they are still up on Ridgid's website?

Channelock for the slip joints and Klein for the other two.

I don't think Ridgids hand tools are anything special. You can get the same things you are looking for at any Home Depot or Lowes.

Channel Locks for slip joints, Craftsman Pro on the needle nose, and Klein on the Linemans pliers, I like the Ironworker ones myself with the bent handle and more aggressive jaw.
