  • New furnace, old glass fuse on cabinet ?????

Most gas Hot air furnaces are protected with a 15 amp. dedicated breaker in the panel. Isn't it redundant to supply
and old fashion fuse at the cabinet disconnect ?? Thanks
I can build anything You want , if you draw a picture of it , on the back of a big enough check .

yes, it is redundant. however if the breaker is over sized, a local fuse/breaker is used. remember, too, that a fuse is a positive, 100% break when there is an overload. With a breaker it is not always the case.

I don't understand anyone over fusing a circuit . 20 Amp breaker on 14 Ga. wire doesn't get signed off. It's stupid, a hazard.and against Elec. code

            Agreed.

What I normally find is that the old unit that was replaced required a larger breaker and wire. Those were left in place at the time of the new installation and it is locally fused to the correct draw for the new unit.

            Edit: first post didnt take...
