I have a 535 threader with a 811a universal head, with new 1 - 2 inch dies. I am trying to cut threads on 1-1/4 pipe and it keeps pulling the threads. Could my die head be worn out?

How does your oil look? I used to think it didn't matter but I have found it can make a difference.

How old is your diehead? If it is pretty old, the cam plate inside can wear which causes your dies to move a little inside and can cause tearing. Also the type of pipe you have and the type of dies you are using can also result in tearing. Check and see if you are using High Speed dies. We recommend using high speed dies right now with all the import pipe that is on the market. The import pipe has a lot of hard then soft spots which can cause tearing also. Look on the end of your dies and see if they read 1-2 NPT HS. If they do I would venture to guess that your cam plate is worn. Oil can make a difference also as suggested above.
