  • PTFE in pipe dope

Vince's thread had me look at the hercules website for megaloc which is their newest brand. A selling point they made is that it does not have any ptfe. I use real tuff which has the highest concentration of ptfe.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of ptfe?

I don't know the answer either but I would like to know.

We have been using Mega Lock for 3 years or so and I don't like it. Yes it cleans up easier but when the pipe leaks that benefit is lost. It goes on thin and clumpy which I don't like.

I have noticed problems on 1 1/4" pipe and larger. I use Great White by Oatey. Clean up is a little annoying but is doesn't set hard and I don't have to wait for drip.
Anyone can tear a man down, few can build one up.
