your right the tool its self looks big .there are others out there that are smaller but my be cheaper made but smaller

this is good if your fingers dont work well or you have to reach into some place to cut . but a pair of channel locks i dont think so not on my tools ,if you need channel locks to turn a small cutter then you have it a little to snug

Yeah, I think my hand is a little more "close quarters" than that set up. If they want to improve small cutters they might work on making the adjustment knob easier to grip, but I've never had a problem if the thing is lubed properly.

Wheeler Rex self ratcheting tubing cutter. I absolutely love this cutter. Can be a little finicky if not kept clean and lubed. Always a way to gitter done, just love any tool that eliminates frustration. Sorry don't know how to post a link but found easy on google.

i'll have to take a photo of what i think is the best close quarters ratcheting tubing cutter out there.

              it's for 1/4''- 1.125'' od

marketed by sears and is also a lifetime guarantee.

i'm on my second one in 6 years.

Sorry to hear that. When you grab a specialty tool and it doesn't work its a real pi$$er. They do work if kept clean and lubed. you have to push firmly to engage the ratchet feature. the cutter Rick is showing looks promising, I'll be checking it out.

A sawzall with a 24tpi blade works even better for stuff like this. I want to buy a mini sawzall just for applications like this.

Most of the time it is not secured and just moves with the blade as soon as the teeth start to dig in.That and it's up against wood to where the stroke of the saw bounces the blade out after bending it to junk.My most favorite is when it grabs and goes through the other rooms drywall with goldleaf wallpaper.

I do want to get one of those Hackzalls, even though once again there is a pile of them returned in the corner of the manager's office at fergie's.

I use the milaukee blades which are about 4". I grab the pipe with my left hand and press down on the sawzall with my thumb. The right hand stays on the trigger, no vibration.

problem with a saw is the copper grit that will fall into the pipe and eventually cut into o-rings and seals of fixtures.

hard to properly flush out when the pipe is in a fixed vertical position.

tubing cutter has no copper fines and knowing how to ream, it pulls out the shavings.
