  • Hack Job Fixup - Josh's basement

Well i finally got around to finishing the supply line fixes for my basement shower. Used to be hacked in 1/4" supply. Just as a refresher here is what it used to look like.

While it still may be sorta hackish I think its an improvement... got to sweat some of it and press. Pressing almost feels like cheating its so easy

Nothing exciting but this was the first joint I ever sweat (image below)... I tore out and sweated some stuff behind the valve that you can see in the first reworked image as well. I know I could improve a lot but hey its a starting point and I never really had anything to contrast to pressing.

I was using the C1 actuator and the ring kit to press a lot of this system. Here is an image below that would have been impossible to do without the rings and would have been a huge pain in the butt to sweat (and a fire hazard )

    josh, you did good

    except for the strapping

i'll bring some 2 hole isolators to strap it and maintain the acoustics.

so whats left to do when the crew is back in town

I knew that would get noticed... Yeah, I didnt have any straps when I finished this up. I want to replace those before I cover it up.

Definitely hacked as far as the straps.

I did find that there is a wicked blockage in the basement shower drain. i am gonna have to take care of that ASAP though so cant wait.

Yeah.. I regret not getting the action shots. It was a really tight working space in the small bathroom.

it still amazes me that Rick can convince passers by to be his photographer. Major props to him.

Rick is hoping for his own reality show, he has his own photographer that just follows him everywhere and films everything!

we may make a plumber out of you yet.

notice the romex coming out of the emt with no bushing? whats safer? the fiber glass appears lose. take it out sweat put it back. or just put the head of you torch on the back side of fitting so it points away from fiberglass also the propress appears to crush the copper on the tee. it looks worse than an unreamed cut. how much of a restriction does this cause? think multiple fittings. not sayin nuthin now just askin just askin. breid.............:
