I've been happy with the Rothenberger Pro35/Pro42 type.

    No more Lenox?

I like the one you show. It has a quick release whereas the ones I listed do not. I also like that reamer better than the Ridgid one. Looks like this one wins for me. Sorry Ridgid.

I can say from using them that the Reed #TCQ1 and TCQ2 work very well. Reed has the QSS wheel for stainless steel in case you need it. I've tried a side by side test of a Ridgid 2A and a Reed 2-1 pipe cutters. I really like how the Reed has the cutting wheel move rather than the rollers. In addition adding the 2RBHD gives it the ability to really cut and keep cutting both iron and SS pipe/tubing.

Sorry RIDGID but it's time for a few engineering updates.

For myself I still like the older design Ridgid 10, 20 and 30 tubing cutters the best. I guess being old school I follow the K I S S rule too much.

Ben, Why not give one of the Reed that you like a try? I really doubt you'll end up not liking it.

it sounds like reed is a clear winner.

I really like the look of that reamer on the reed. I have a jet deburring tool that I use that's just like that. #15, 20 and 30 ridgid are what I usually use. I have a cheap mastercraft pair for cutting plastic pipe, they have a lenox plastic wheel in them. I use #15 or 20 ridgid most of the time for cutting copper, or my close quarters cutters. I also have a tiny pair of brasscraft's that I bought when I first started and they SUCK. Used rothenberger (journeyman had some) before, and quite liked them.

                          Re: best tubing cutters?

                          Now these are strictly for 1/2 - 3/4 - 1 inch pipes.
But raptor close quarter cutters are all I use now. Well for those sizes anyways. Each cutter is about 10 bucks, and they cut SO fast and easy.
They are the little round ones you kinda snap onto the pipe, they self tighten, and you can only work them in one direction. But, the raptors will cut faster, than any other tubing cutter of the same size.

Ya can get them at Ferguson.

                          (they even cut soft copper)
