    Re: Propress fitting question

i've seen it happen before. it would be either the jaws are dirty or the fitting is slightly oversized causing sticky or bigger pinch.

try cleaning the jaws with the supplied scotch brite pad and if need be try squirting some "pam" anti stick pot coating on the jaws.

        Re: Propress fitting question

I'm not getting the "sharp point" like you are with mine. Maybe a very small dimple but not like yours. My jaws most always stick, I thought that was normal. I found that if I turn the tool slightly it breaks the jaws free.

My jaws for leave a point like that. Always thought it was normal. I just take a file and give it a quick pass to knock the point down

                Charlie,
Can you post a picture of the jaw you are using. What I'm looking for is a close, clear picture of the tip of the jaw in the area where the sharp point of the fitting contacts the jaw. Are you using a standard or compact jaw, and is it only one size or is it all sizes?

                      Hawk,
Early on I had this happen on 3-2" tees. I cut them out and took them into Ferguson. They gave me another clamp and sent mine into Ridgid.
About a week later Ridgid sent me another clamp. Ferguson also replaced the tees.
Mine pinched so bad that it cut the rubber gasket.
All I was told that the calibration was off.

                          Re: Propress fitting question

Charlie, my propress has done this from day one, and that was years ago. It does it on all my jaws, 1/2-4"

As long as it doesn't thin it out to much or cut the gasket like someone else posted, I won't worry about it.

I did have an inspector years ago question me on it, so now if I think it is to much, I file it down.

i file it down but like you said if it thins it out to much and you also put a file on it that may not be good
i will post some pictures and they can see what is going on
