  • Problems threading pipe on ridgid 690 power drive

Has anyone had any issues getting good threads on a 690 power drive.
We are using a 691 support bar and the force of the drive
Actually is twisting the support bar. The threads are not even usable.
Its a brand new power drive, dies, etc. any ideas?
Gotta go, I'm late for the weekly pig screwin'!!

The most likely cause of this is the thread dies are not properly calibrated. Just because it's new doesn't means they were set right from the factory. Loosen but don't remove the 4 screws on the die head. Take a new store bought nipple and thread it in the die head until it bottoms out. With the nipple in place, now tighten the 4 screws. It's also possible the die teeth were install in the wrong order. Be sure #1 is in the #1 slot, etc.

    Test and adjust as necessary.

Who needs a power drive when you can hand cut, hand ream, hand thread and hand screw, 1" black steel pipe in 66 seconds

But can you keep that pace all day long, and you do know you have to use cutting oil...right?

I used plenty of oil. Steve barley gave it a squirt.

Just a 1 hit wonder. Not all day.

Now cutting copper I'm good for 105 pc. A few more than an electric tubing cutter. Right ben
