  • Hybrid plumbing systems.

Man this place has been slow lately! I have been helping a plumber retrofit a old polybutylene house, and we are doing part of system in pex, and all the really really tight work with CPVC flowguard, and some areas in copper. Is this common? like I said I'm a helper, and my forte is fire sprinklers lol

Pretty common when you're cleaning out the truck.

I like cpvc mains for building repipes, then pex to finish the individual units.

That sounds like a service plumbers nightmare....or dream come true, depending on your perspective.

Not many towns allow CPVC in this area and it is very hard to even find in stores. Pex is just barely starting to come around.

We are pretty much all copper all the time in the Chicago area.

I think Pex will be the norm here in about 5-10 years.

Why do like CPVC? Cost, ease of install, ect. It's been my experience that it gets brittle in short time. I personally don't care for CPVC for anything but water heater pop off drains.
