  • Tankless Water Heater

Hello all, i just moved into a house that has a well and a tankless water heater. There is a very small filter on the heater that cloges up with i guess sand, very small particles. The pressure then drops so i have to clean the filter. I am told i should have a filter on the main coming in. I am looking for thoughts or suggestions on what filter too install. Thanks everyone!

What you want is a "Whole House" filter that you install right after the valve on your storage tank. They take throw away cartridge filters. Be sure the brand of filter holder is one where you can buy replacement filters for it. Home Depot and Lowes sell some of them in the plumbing section. Please see links below. After it's installed, blast any dirt out of the pipe to the water heater inlet and then remove the little filter. You shouldn't need it anymore.

Get a nice big high capacity filter so you don't have to change it as offen as the smaller size would need.

There are other similar brands. This is the big guy of filters for water.

Another thing to consider is a softener after the main line filter [ and after the hose bib branches ]. It would do wonders for your whole system.

Thanks everyone.... assuming these units would reduce some water pressure, should i go for the bigger unit to get more gpm?
