  • Some of The Things I've Learned Here...

I've been a member 4 months and have picked up alot of information here. Some good and some completely useless to me.

    I learned that:

I don't know as much about plumbing as I thought I knew.
Ridgid has an excellent forum website that is more addictive than porn.
Hot water heaters can produce an extremely explosive gas.
That way deep down inside I just may be a Democrat after all.
You cannot discuss Flat Rate Pricing here even when joking around.
When one of us is in need of help; we all reached out to him.
That west coast plumbers do things completly different than me.
You can give the homeowners all the right information and they still make the wrong decision.
I can wield my wealth of knowledge freely without any repercussions at all.
It's the people that make this forum what it is....something special.

OK that last one was a lil sappy but it's true.
I can't wait to find out what I'm going to learn next

    What's on your list?

I completely agree...the difference in West vs East plumbers (I'm East too), not knowing as much as I thought, and ESPECIALLY with the people making this site great.
    One small thing though....whats "porn"?

Don't hang out in the Plumber's forums pretending to know things!!!

I do read this section, but don't often post cause
      A) I KNOW NOTHING about plumbing
      B) I don't think I'll ever learn enough to weild a pipe wrench except in my own house!!

That being said, I have learned a LOT from everyone here. Not just plumbing but in the woodworking area, too. I have a tremendous respect for the people here, and owe a debt of thanks I doubt I'll ever be able to repay. And a huge THANKS!!! to Ridgid for providing us this space.

See...sometimes a framer and a plumber can hang out and not get into a fight!!!

I'm running back into hiding now....just in case....I do poorly in fights!
I put it all back together better than before. There\'s lots of leftover parts.

        Some things I have learned...

        - There are still people out there that take pride in their work
        - A forum with quality members can remain civil and make moderating easy for me
        - Meeting forum members in person is as pleasent as on the forum.
        - Birdhouses can be pretty darn cool
        - You can make some pretty good money in the trades if you do it right

        continue.......

PlumbersCrack, you can say 'us' next time you refer to east coast vs west coast, there are 3 of us.

I don't post much, but rather I just try to consume the wealth of information the 'common' posters have. I know theres math and science in plumbing, but some of the guys' job stories, and questions are just amazing. The main one that pops out at me, is Rick's Medical Facility Sterilizer one.

Re: Some of The Things I've Learned Here...

I have made many new friends here on the forum, some of them life long, (I would like to believe)

I owe it all to the wife, who found the forum one day. I am able to provide knowledge and also learn new things too.

Ridgid and Josh rock, Josh, you do a great job of keeping this thing running like a machine, and Ridigid, you do a great job of paying for this site
I hope Josh's pay breaks the bank, he deserves it

To all the regular posters, thank you for taking the time to contribute.

This forum is like a cigarette, I need one every hour

Re: Some of The Things I've Learned Here...

What I have learned is there is a lot of collective talent on this site. I am excited to see the younger guys with such enthusiasm in doing things the right way. It shows me there is hope the next generation of plumbers will do their best to protect the Trade and the safety of the public.

I am also thankful Ridgid has made this site available to us. I work with other manufacturers who are afraid to have a site because they worry about what may be posted on the site. In addition, I use to belong to a manufacturers site which closed down because of what was posted. The fact that Ridgid would provide a site like this tells me they stand behind their products and welcome comments from their consumers.

Re: Some of The Things I've Learned Here...

plumbercrack, very good topic and 1 for the books.

if it wasn't for this forum, i wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet other real plumbers from across the country and around the world. not just plumbers, but real everyday people and trades people men and women

like i've stated before, this is my first and only forum that i've participated in. joey looks forward to it as much as i do and sometimes calls me to fill me in while at work.

everyone has a unique personality here. and that's what makes it work. it would be boring if everyone agreed with each other.

some are here for a quick fix or answer. others are because they truly love their trade or hobby.

it's amazing that we eventually work out the bugs and remain 1 big ridgid family.

josh might be young (30+) but he is the godfather that brings it all together.

thanks, josh and the rest of the ridgid family

                        rick and joey.
