  • silly question

My brother-in-law has recently started doing plumbing at his worksite. He has been working alot with copper pipe and his hands are turning black! Any ideas why or what to do?

    Re: silly question

Try getting him some FAST ORANGE with pumice (fine grit) hand cleaner and a hand washing brush. See it he can scrub the black off his hands. If not, have him see a doctor as it may be a chemical reaction and he needs medical treatment. I have a feeling a really good hand cleaning will help big time. You can find it at most auto parts stores and I've seen it in the automotive section of some Walmart stores.

    Info on Fast Orange: http://www.permatex.com/brand_fast_orange.htm

Also get him a good pair of work gloves for when he handles copper pipe and fittings.

      Re: silly question

I buy it by the vat.
I don't wear gloves on copper, but when it's real bad I soak my hands in it...does better than anything else I've tried.
      The citrus makes the difference.
