  • Are you a sucker for new tools?

My wife says its like an addiction. Worse than gambling or womanizing. She says I get a glazed look in my eyes when strolling through the tool department at H.D.

I was going through my power tools the other day and sorting them out.

7 - sawzalls of various makes
9 - Hole hawgs and d handle drills
    13 cordless drills
    5 - skill saws
    13 - routers
    3 table saws
    4 chop saws
    6 corded drills
    3 portable band saws
    7 hammer drills
and the list goes on. And these are my tools not the business tools. Maybe she has a point. And no, I don't want to sell any of them, They're mine................

Yes I am! I love tools. Right now I am trying to talk myself out of buying more tools. Here is what I want to buy:

    Jet Drill press
    Woodrat wr900
    Veritas Saddle Square
    Festool random orbital sander
Anyone can tear a man down, few can build one up.

      Yep.

I try to convince myself and the gal that spending money on good tools is a good hobby since I use em for work as well. It makes my work more enjoyable and therefore makes me a happier person. I really do think this is true but I have to beware of the point of diminishing returns.

I'm tooled up pretty good right now, but that doesn't mean I'll pass up a good deal when I see it. I'm just lucky I don't have a garage or shop and have to keep everything in my truck. Giving a tool-a-holic shop space is like giving a crack head a $20 bill.

Re: Are you a sucker for new tools?

I'm getting to the point where I want to have 1 tool which is the best in it's category. I give tools away rather then have them sit in the shed. And no, I don't need any new friends.

tool. i would like to compare, but i don't have the energy or desire to post it.
                    just a tease though
welders, i might even give you a run for the money. 2 arc welders ac/dc. 2 wire welders, 1 gas driven arc welder, spot welder and plasma cutter. not to mention all the oxy/acy tanks and torches. still looking for a nice inverter style ac/dc. tig welder. i won't bother listing all the concrete and coring equipment as it is more than 1 can ever use.

still waiting for my steak and shake then we can talk shop

I have a big problem with buying tools.

But I figure it's better than buying drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc.

It keeps me out of trouble with the 5-0.

Also it helps me get jobs done faster and easier.

I lost count, buy I probably have $4,000 worth of tools and I'm only 17.
