          That sounds suspiciously similar to a cumalong and two friction clamps....
          Keep one friction clamp loose...then grab it tight with channel locks as soon as you're ready to work the cumalong, hold the channel locks tight until the solvent weld sets....then let go of the channel locks.
          You could even do this alone once you get the hang of it.

            i have a small cumalong that can be used as a chain hoist by pulling on the chain until it gets tight then use the cumalong the rest of the way
