I do not know if the ones at Depot are Watts or not. Many Have tried them only to replace every single one due to malfunction. They restrict or stop flow entirely on frequent occassion.

I have put some in the homeowner has supplied and they have leaked at the compressed manufactured joints above and below the backflow device. At this time I would Stay away from usiing them.

If you turn your water off to the house, or the fixture, and then turn the water back on the house or the fixture quickly, it will turn off and you need to bleed the line again, and start over.

didn't like them when i first looked at them a couple of years ago.

they work on the principal of excess flow. meaning if you make the mistake of removing a flow restrictor or flushing a faucet, they will trip.

a small leak or spray will not close the valving inside.

give them a few years in hard water conditions and see if you can even get water through them.

re-setting involves removing the inlet side to reset the valve.

a gimmick that will come back to haunt them.

couldn't agree more. Just changed out a few in an apt that I maintain due to inoperation.

They are Home Depot, here at least.
Very disapointing to see Watts making bright-shiney DIY appealing crap...I yank 'em as sooin as I see 'em.

On the other hand, they have made me money when the call comes in 'cause hubby can't understand why there's no water after installing them just months ago...I should just shut up.

Re: WattsS.S. braided floodless supply lines

I bought these when they first came out. At first they had a very low flow rate but I was to lazy to change them and now they work very well as far as how much water is used. Would I use them again, no. Reason is that most broken hoses don't break wide open, usually it's a little drip and this product won't guard againt that.

I did see a product on TOH that I found interesting but never looked further into it. It was a solenoid valve on the hot and cold side. You plugged the valve into the outlet and the washer plug into the valve. Even had it's own expansion tanks for both sides. This might something I might do in the future.
                              Buy cheap, buy twice.
