Anyway, if you're not messing with us you use screws on fiberglass & acrylic tub flanges to secure as required by mfgs.

The only place I have ever used screws on setting a tub was to install the stringer. Never in my life have I ever installed one on the flange (lip?) Im dead serious

Always seen it done that way and have read some of the manufacturers literature that said too on some. I'll look again soon.

Pip: Irritating or annoying. I'll take that from one pip to another pip.

In the event moisture gets under the tile, chrome won't rust & run.

You knew that, I know you knew that.

I use galvanized or outdoor rated weather-resistant screws for everything, I never used chrome. Its a waste to me, as its unecessary.

I guess I see your point about using regular old cheapy drywall screws. (the black ones that rust into nothingness)

                        Re: Good Plumber?

a good plumber is one that not only knows what they are doing, but one who knows why they are doing it that way in the first place.

anybody can be shown how to install a particular item.

but not everybody knows why it has to be done that way.

knowing the code and understanding the principals of it is a good plumber.

a good plumber is one who can look at and explain right from wrong. who can install it right and not have to be corrected by others. one who can think on their own.

a good plumber never stops learning.
