Knowing the line between taking charge in conversations with customers and allowing them to become informed & work with you.
Gets sketchy sometimes when homeowners want to play plumber and run the job.

Taking pride in your work. Also the little things like no snot balls on your solder joints, cleaning excess pipe dope off the joints, piping runs uniform and my big one always keep pipes plumb, level and square

Like any other job, know your stuff and do it right. If you don't know ask.
              What makes him a professional?

You know you are good, when customers call you back, and you are referred to work at their parents, relatives, neighbors houses.

                  Good thread J.C.,

I would say a good plumber to owner of a plumbing company would be one that makes the company money.

In my eyes, a good plumber is one that does what is right even though it is not easy. A person who enjoys plumbing. Someone of integrity.

Making the extra trip back down three flights of stairs rather than use the drywall screws the GC has right there for the acrylic tub because you forgot the chrome ones.

And no-one would likely ever know the difference.

I guess I am not a good plumber then. I wouldn't care what kind of screws are used for an acrylic tub, Why chrome if they'll never be seen anyway?
