    If installed properly, I see no reason that vinyl will not last just as long as lead. At a much cheaper cost.

      If not for the cost and difficulty in getting sheet lead in large sizes I would prefer it over vinyl. I find lead very easy to work with. It takes a bend well and molds into shape and stays there.

        Hot mopping is also used for walls. Irrespective of what kind of pan you use, it used to be common practice to use heavy felt on the walls and hot mop with tar, then metal lath and plaster. This is all from my memory - I think it was in the IAPMO standards in the old UPC book.

        Nowadays, shower walls are commonly cement board. That's a whole lot easier than calling a roofer to do the shower. Interesting note: in Australia, I've been told that only plumbers can do roofing.

          the problem with finding how long vinyl will last is people do not keep the same shower for 60-80 years like they use to

          people change things with in 20 to 40 years

            I think the people that knock it dont know how to make one or they have only had the pleasure of carrying it
