  • U.K. Plumber needs skills advice

I am new to this board, so let me introduce myself. My name is Richard and I have worked in the U.K. plumbing industry since 1985 specialising in central heating systems, bathroom installations and gas work in new build houses for several national house builders. For the last 5 years I have been self employed doing the same type of work.

My wife and I would like too live and work in the U.S. possibly San Diego County and was wondering if my experiance/qualifications would help me gain employment in the plumbing industry?

Are there any online qualifactions that I could do too enhance my job prospects?

    Thanks in advance

Every state is different here with regards to qualifications. Some states do not have a state wide board to administer plumbing, most do. You need to decide where you want to live, then post back with a specific location and I'm sure one of the members in that area can better answer your questions.

As an employee you would not have a problem finding work in the San Diego County area. As a Contractor you would have to prove past employment in the trade and pass a test based on the Uniform Plumbing Code and the California Contractors Law.
