  • Vice Picture

Can anyone identify this vice I have a picture of? Look past the pretty toes and concentrate on the vice. It appears to be a rather old tri-stand which is missing it's legs and has been repainted. I'm sure it is not worth much but I'll bet you Rick owns one.

Wrong, Rick owns 5 and he is willing to sell one.
Anyone can tear a man down, few can build one up.

      TOE JAM ALERT!

      That's a Ridgid 2-1/2" Y vice.

I think the 'Y' stands for Yoke?

It's pretty old but in good shape.

Josh was looking for one of these a while back wasn't he?

Wait a minute I'd recognize those painted up nails and cuffed jeans anywhere. That's MrsSeatDown slummin it down at the meet.

BTW: To the best of my knowledge Joey's toe jam (if any) was not photo shopped out of the picture.

            Re: Vice Picture

            hello.

i've seen and used a yoke vice very simular to the one you posted.

the little round nipple is used to hold the vice down. on the job site the plumber would position the vice under a load bearing beam. he would then measure and cut a piece of 3/4"(i believe)BI pipe to fit the distance between that little round nipple and the beam. then the plumber could postion the pipe on the nipple then tighten it to the ceiling via a t-handle located directly below the nipple thus securing the vice tight against the floor.

the three holes with a curve on them were used to bend copper tubing or conduit.

i'm not sure what the square slot if for.

                Shhhhhhh!

There is a reason this one is called a "vice" but I can't say until tomorrow or so.

Rick thinks it is older. He saw a 40 and it is older than that. This is a 2 1/2 Y.

If we have the oldest vise Ridgid makes, I'll trade ya for that tool and accessories.

Don't tell Rick though. If I end up with a bidet like gift I will be giving his gift away to some other little tool collector that is more appreciative
