    Re: Copper water service stolen

I used to work large commercial jobs up in N.Y. One monday, we came back from a long weekend to find the copper water lines ripped out of an apartment building. So we replaced them and a security guard was placed on the property. A week later, they were ripped out again. My boss learned that time, and had a guy paint them black to look like black pipe. Never stolen again! That security guard had to have been on it.

I have done this for years. I keep my 3/4" K service lines as short as possible and sleeve the stub from the wall with about 3 foot of 1" black poly pipe. The rest of the building is red and blue Wirsbo. Leave some scraps of pex outside and put some signs in windows "NO COPPER PIPE OR TOOLS IN THIS BUILDING" "NO TUBO DI COBRE O HERRAMIENTAS EN ESTE EDIFICIO". Even in the worst neighborhood's no problems. The crackheads can't sell plastic so they don't even bother to break in.
