what type of gloves do you use
i really like the 3 fingered mitts. i wore those out.

at the moment i've got a pair that resemble army issue with a pair of gloves without the finger tips inside those.

i'll post a pic of some homemade mitts that my tammy wears when she gets home from work in about an hour.

in the old days, each piece of clothing was custom fit for the wearer.

inuit women have been called the best sewers in the world. judging from the clothing i've seen, that's not surprising.

Gloves. Thats my biggest problem. My hands get cold quick.
I get 20 pairs of cheap $2 gloves so as soon as they get wet I swap them out with a dry pair and throw them on the dash board.
I would like to find a pair of gloves/mitts that are truly water proof.

Watching a Nova special right now about some cold parts of Canada. Some guy tried to find a route from Europe to the Pacific through many Arctic Islands there in 1845.

They were never heard from again. But now they've found some frozen folks and are trying to study them.

                  Green Peace
I can see it now. An almost lifeless Green Peace member aboard a rescue helicopter saying (cheech and Chong voice) "Wow man. I don't know what happened. I just remember a person dressed in fur saving my life"

there's an island located about 25 miles from here that has a ship wreck from about 1640 something. it's called marble island because the island is all quartz.

capt james knight and his crew became shipwrecked when they hit "hidden rock". they missed it when they did the sounding for the little bay that the ship is located in.

the cold water has preserved the wreck and it can be seen from the top at low tide and if the water is calm.

"dead silence" is the name of the book. i can't remember the name of the author. excellent reading.

i've been to the island and old inuit stories say that a old woman felt that she was no longer any use to her people so she set herself adrift on a piece of ice and turned it into a rock. out of respect for her spirit, every visitor's first time on the island must crawl on their elbows and knees or they'll get lost on the little island that is only 3 miles wide and about 12 miles long.

because the capt and his crew refused the help from the inuit, they all perished. they never stood a chance. there is nothing on that island but rock and a little plants.
