          I have found that those telescopic repair fittings to be somewhat unreliable. We have used them around the school district for irrigation and service line repair and they have a tendency to break later on their own. Even with a good compacted bed of dirt! I prefer the 4 90 trick when in a tight place.

            I believe someone does make a repair PVC glue coupling, but I would not use it. PVC connections need to be tapered ID, what they call "interference fit". This is so the melted plastic of both pieces is forced together. Without that tight fit, what is holding a slide-on piece in place? You need the o-ring types;

              I have used the KBI telescopic repair couplings (also for a school district) up to 4" and I have never had a failure. You do have to be careful to install them per manufacturer's instructions.

                I have seen the telescope ones but they just look bad i don't think i would trust it under the ground. I think they are made for iragation not plumbing.

                  I just use my trusty "socket saver" bit. They are available in every size from 1/2" thru 4" and work on Schedule 40 PVC and ABS. It works great with my cordless drill, simply reams out the stop. Mine are Plum Best brand, DON'T BUY Raptor brand, they don't cut right.
