  • Grundfos vs Watts Comfort system

Grundfos Comfort system $272.00 from my supplier with stainless steel has 30 month warranty from date of manufacture. Watts Comfort system $189.00 at LOWES with bronze 12 month warranty. I'm a bad salesman, any words of wisdom trying to sell the higher priced unit, Grundfos wasn't very helpful. Just want to give a reasonable answer to the customer inquiries. Not to comforted with the answers I've come up with so far. I guess just like water heaters " you buy it I"ll install it"

same unit they sell at costco. they even throw in the flexes and if you go online you can order the extra manifolds.

from what i can see, they are the same units.

costco has a better retrun policy.

      Wookie,
      I feel your pain.
I spent a short time this weekend listening the advice of a member trying to get me to see the importance of salesmanship, knowledge and fortitude.
I find that the more I know about a product the easier it is for me to talk about it with a customer.

I think I will take the time this week to educate myself on your subject.
      Thanks

Too bad the Long Beach PHCC Show isn't this weekend or we could ask these guys directly.

I need to get plumbing mags delivered to the house.

So other than your own profit and warranty is there a reason not to install the less expensive unit?

The Watts brand seems to have good ratings.

Chances are they'll last about the same amount of time.

I know that Grundfos pumps for non-potable water, closed loop heat systems are cast iron and their pumps for domestic water are stainless steel. Are there any differences in ratings between Grundfos SS and the Watts bronze as far as ratings and longevity?

Re: Grundfos vs Watts Comfort system

I've got no problem installing any customer supplied products. I would not like being in the position of having installed the Grunfos with a higher price tag and then the customer finding the Watts at Lowes and asking me whats up with that its the same unit. If the Grundfos was superior I could justify it. When I talked to Grundfos on the phone, they were'nt able to justify the difference in cost or QUALITY!

Its nothing new we just would like to have products that we are proud to supply and install, hopefully items that the customer does't have easy access to. So I'll just make the customer aware of the technology and let them make their choice, I'll still get the install, a new entry on my customer base list and when they see the benefit of my guidence I'm a hero!

I like costco as much as everyone. They are just stepping on my toes again Years ago when they started selling reverse osmosis systems they were selling them for less than I could buy them for and at the time my units looked just like costco units. The internals and assembly were better on my units but customers had a hard time with it.

I now build/assemble my own system which LOOKS different and performs better than a big box unit.

I understand its business not personal

This one costs some, but it's worth it.
