  • Water service at 18" below grade in NY!

Well the title says it all! Yesterday while digging test holes to site a septic system I found this little beauty!! Sheared it clean off!! How come when you need a 2' piece of 1" soft tubing no one has it, you have to buy a whole roll!!! $200 later for a 55' roll that will now sit because I will have no use for it for a while! And of course the town wont let me silver solder the connection for some reason, and I needed to check 3 supply houses till i found one with flare fittings, I was able to get one union, a male and female IPS X Flare adapters. Crappy day I am too old for this LOL

Wish I had a ProPress! Does It work for soft tubing?

What is the frost line where you live?

    Seems shallow for New York.

Is pro-press allowed underground? I never had the pleasure to use one yet. But I have been looking at them for years, and on some jobs really wishing I had one.

            out here it is

but it's treated the same as soldered joints.

outside of the structure, it's fine.

under the structures slab, it still needs to be silver soldered/ brazed just like normal copper.

great thing is you can work with the water still dripping/ running.

            i too wished for 1

            now i have 5

i'll post some 3'' underground in a few weeks when my backflow shows up

Don't get the brazing not allowed part!??
Those 3 part flare couplings are not free!
And you had to install a frankenstein instead!Even better!
                Bad day.Thanks to the hacks.
