  • American Standard Flowise...tick'in me off!

I have not installed one of these in a while. Instructions show mounting the tank flush to the bowl. It has the lip to set on, front and back.

    Per instructions:

    b. With tank parallel to wall, alternately tighten hex nuts until tank is
snugged down evenly against bowl surface

So whats the problem? I have tried three times to tighten it down flush with the bowl, but no success. It sounds like its going to split. Right now it sets on there and it is tight, not leaking, but does move back and forth.

Whats up with that? Is the donut gasket to fat?

Gotta think outside of the box...

You can get them tight. Just be gentle and move from bolt to bolt.

I have installed them and had to crank down to the point you think it's going to break, but got it to stop rocking. Got it all the way down by putting pressure on the tank edge with one forearm and tightening from one side to the other.

On the other hand, I HAVE installed some that COULD NOT be tightened to the point of not rocking. Would have broken. So I shimmed some stiff rubber washers between the tank and bowl. Cranked it down, no rocking, no leaks, no callbacks.

          Good luck.

I tighten the bolts with an impact driver. I then cover the exposed bolts with plumber's putty. I thought everyone knew this.

So what if a guy were to use a few small shims on this particular model.Same soft plastic one uses for bowl to floor so they're already on the truck.
