  • My ratchet cutter finally gave out

Can't remember the Ridgid model number, but it's the ratchet soil pipe cutter with the long handle. I've had this one for years.
Last week it just stopped working. The round hand adjuster no longer adjusts anything and the thing barely ratchets.

I called Ridgid today and I'm sending it to Ohio.

I know they guarantee their tools for life but what do you think they will do? Has anyone here had to deal with a warranty problem before? Thanks.

Same repair snaps I own.I will be watching to see how this comes out.
Went in front of the state today for the masters quiz.
They *may* send word in about 3 weeks.
("Call before then and you automatically FAIL!")
What a nice ring...MASTER pinball fan...

Yup, don't call them! When I took my Masters for MN. It took three weeks to the day to get the results back, the longest three weeks in my life!

When I hear something from Ridgid on the repair I'll post it. They say they guarantee it for life, we'll see.

i'm on the fence on this one.

the guarantee is against breakage under normal use.

yours might just be worn out.

worn out and breakage are 2 different things.

when a set of jaws, dies, cutters wear, i don't return them asking for new replacement parts. they sell replacement parts.

in fact a little trivia. ridgid has over 19,000 sku's

i've got a #206 cutter doing nothing now.

it's been replaced by the #226 cutter. much lighter and easier to operate and maneuver in tight spots.

good luck, but don't be surprised if you see a bill.

Thanks Rick, that's ok if that happens. Could be cheaper than buying a new one I guess.
