  • Aviation fuel filter change

    just did this today.

    these are changed once a year.

    the five in the bottom are the inlets and the four on top are the outlets.

    it's very important not to touch the filters with bare hands as it will contaminate the fuel.

    also, we're not allowed to use pipe dope on any aviation fuel fitting. tephlon tape only because of the risk of contamination as well.

    the door on the filter casement weighs about 200lbs.

    Good to hear from you again vince. I've done some work where they won't allow T tape because they are affraid strands of it will get caught in newmatic parts.

      yes, i've been learning where to use tephlon/pipe dope. it can be very critical.

      ie; no tephlon in oil supply for heating. it tends to screw up the pump from what i've been told.
