  • "Trade Lingo Tango"

Have a "customer" who brags about "being in Construction" for years called me up and wanted some plumbing modified to go from Counter Top Lavs to Pedistals . Sooo I put togather a bid for "Roughing in" 4 Pedistal Lavs ...They agreed I did the work ... Got paid Then I Get the call ! hey we are ready for you to "finsh" your job I said I am "finished" You got 4 rough ins ... Then the guy says "I am a Tile Installer NOT a plumber"

WTF ! Mr. BIG SHOT !!!

Anybody here willing to "trim Out" 4 pedistalls for free ?

So how did the rest of the conversation finish out?

We have an epidemic of tile setters acting as General Contractors. They have sub/buddies(licensed or not) submit prices to them and tack on their 15-20%.Lots of loose ends and sub-standard work(pun intended).
Makes no difference with the illegal citizen, postal worker and the unemployed data entry tech all vying for the same opportunity to tell a homeowner they are a General Contractor.

              Re: "Trade Lingo Tango"

A general conractor will have a license with the state they are working in, it only takes a few minutes on the web to find out if they are lieing or not. Most people are not aware of this. Just look on CL if you want to see about 95% of them advertising as licensed and they are not. A business license is not a contractors or home remodelers liense.

If the proposal only said "roughing in " then you have no worries.
