you're missing the point. it's a water hammer arrestor that blew

hope you saved the hose clamps

        Re: Hack job

i have seen that kind of stuff before. and when you tell them you'l fix it right some don't want to pay the price. they will say it worked for 5-10 years why not fix it the way it was and have it go another 5 years.

i had fridge durring the summer. repeat customer, lots of $$$. water line leaking. told him how much to replace... he asked if he could duct tape or silicone the line!
i told him i don't Mickey Mouse anything. turned off the water to it. and said if you do it and it floods, that is going to be very costly. i'm not sure what he did but he wasn't happy that i wouldn't Mickey Mouse it!
the only dumb question is the one that is not asked!

i have a section of 1/4'' poly tubing from an ice maker to water filter. they spliced the tubing to copper by shoving it into it and using some wire twist to clamp it together.

need to take a picture. it actually wasn't leaking, yet

Right after i took the pic i used one of the clamps on a heater knob with a crack in it , that i ran in to at a different job..

The hose was like a small inner tube, that i would bet swelled up the size of a grapefruit..

was it a house trailer? we usually find stuff like that in trailer parks.
