    My god, $1,700 for a 50 gal electric seems like a hard sell at 4 times the cost of a basic 50 ele.

      dawg, spot on

      i like the energy savings calculator. smooth. their computations might be valid if one lived where it never got below 72 deg. we have our furnace on parts of 9 months a year. our furnace is heating the water then. what a deal. my customers will not even buy a ng water heater now. to expensive. when i give them the option of the heat pump, they look at me like i have three eyes. i have four in case you are confused. i would like to see the comparison to ng. breid..............

        80 gallon heat pump water heater at Lowe's is a bargain at $1,599.

          Are Electric co is pushing them
          I don't no were they got their #s

          cost $1,450
          installation $ 200
          total $ 1,650
          30% federal tax credit - $495
          Ar energy office rebate -$200
          net cost $955


          annual energy savings $320
          payback time 3 years


          My 50 gal nat gas wh only cost me $260 a year to run
