  • 456 Tri Bender

I just bought the Ridgid 456 Tri Bender and I was wondering what the markings 'R' and 'L' were for.

    Greg,
When you bend tubing you are actually creating a "shortcut". The tube gains length as you make the bend. These marks (called gain marks) are used to compensate for that increase in length. If the desired dimension is left of center align the mark with the "L" designation on the shoe. If the mark is right of center align the mark with the"R" designation on the shoe. You will notice a mark after the R which has no indicator on it this is used for 45 degree bends. This seems a little confusing at first but with a little practice it will become easier.
