    Re: PHCC Long Beach

Looks like if I fly into LAX the Hyatt provides a Super Shuttle every 10 minutes to and from the airport. So if I fly into LAX, along with a stay at the Hyatt I am looking at $461 Round trip.

Let me kick this around a little bit and I will post if I am coming for sure or not in the next 48 hours.

Are you sure this isn't the LAX Hyatt which is about 30 minutes in traffic, easy, from the Long Beach Hyatt? I don't think the Long Beach shuttle would be every 10 minutes. Just verify!

The Westin is still at $179 with AAA and I don't see that going down too much as that is the official hotel for the show so it will be crowded. All of the hotels will have the 15.07% tourist tax so that won't change. The advantage to the Westin is if you are attending any of the PHCC meetings or the PHCC dinner Friday night. The advantage to the Hyatt would be it is attached to the convention center so once you get there you park and you are done. That said the cost of parking should be looked at as well.

The tourist taxes charged in different cities has always driven me crazy. It is like a hidden tax they charge you after they lure you into the area with their multi-million dollar advertising programs. Then Las Vegas is even worse because the casinos add a resort fee (tax) on top of that. Who else but a casino would charge you because the facilities are there for you to use even if you have no interest in using them?

The tourist taxes on the hotel rooms drive me nuts also, but I understand why they do it. It's a good way to get money for the state without the locals complaining that much. You are right about Vegas also. It is stupid having to pay all the entertainment fees and convenience fees they charge you for buying tickets here.

I should have booked my room at the Westin two weeks ago. It was $139 a night at the time. Oh well.

Well it looks like I will not be able to make it. I am strapped for cash, and it does not look like I am getting any decent paying jobs any time soon.

You all have a Good time, take lots of pictures.

Sorry to hear that Ron, was looking forward to seeing you again, guess we will have to wait for the next RoundUp. I'm waiting to hear where everyone is staying so I can book a room for the night. I always get calls on Saturdays, but they will just have to wait, I need the break.

Okay here is the story on Hyatt reservations. They are currently $152.10 ($17.00 off) and come with 2-breakfasts (I'm guessing at least $24 worth) using AAA discount. Costco has 2 X $50 Hyatt gift cards available for $79 which save another $21. The Hyatt parking and the Convention Center parking are only separated by a link of chain. By paying the $16 overnight rate for parking at the Hyatt, I am told we will save the $10 parking at the Convention Center. It is still a lot of money but I figured it was about a $72 savings at this time, so I made my reservations.

just as bad as when we went on a plumbers fishing trip and joey wore a hat that said "i love my plumber"
