  • Plastic boiler drain leaking on H.W. heater

The threads are all boogered up to try to put a cap on it. Anyone have success on unsrewing one, and replacing. All the ones I have seen break.

Even if it breaks you should be able to get it with an easy-out
or pick it out in pieces or put the torch to it and melt it out.

I break them and take a hacksaw blade and make a cut or two in the plastic threads and pop them out with a screwdriver.

I Always pull out the plastic, junk valve ,install brass nipple ,full port valve, hose fitting. Of course I'm a Gen. Contr., What the heck do I know!
I can build anything You want , if you draw a picture of it , on the back of a big enough check .

i've had decent luck with wiggling them just tiny bits back and forth until they loosen up a little.... then they don't always break

I don't voluntarily leave those plastic valves in, ever.

I never touch a plastic boiler drain unless I have a brass one in my hand to replace it with. Legend makes a nice full port drain.

I agree with the pp. Never had a problem taking them out.
