  • Gas Recovery?

Do larger cities recover the gases created by sewer systems? Refine & use them?

    Just curious.

    Thanks.

i have a camera job at our sewage treatment plant tomorrow

the methane gas they recover is used to power the treatment plant. at least that's what they told me back in 1982 when we had a field trip there as an apprentice

i forget how many millions of gallons they process there daily, but it's a huge plant that serves a large portion of los angeles.

It is pretty commonplace now in big landfills that the methane is recovered...lots of it, and used to generate electicity for the operation. It is a fairly straightforward process....garbage in...methane out.

I wonder if there is an issue with it not being "Clean" methane.Pig methane is used frequently but it's 100% organic.

Human sewage has so many other impurities, toxins, chemicals.
