Well instead of the motor spinning the drum the cable passes through the drill handle and out the chuck. You can leave the drill/motor attached to the drum or you can remove it so you get all the power of the motor closer to the blockage while your extra cable stays stored in the drum. It does take some practice to use, but it works really well. I have used it on overhead sink lines many of times.

Here is a pic of the drill/motor in my hands sadly the drum was cropped out to make this into a profile pic.

      Woussko,

If Rick has a tool that does the same thing, has the same purpose, operates in essentially the same manner, then I would say Rick essentially has the same tool. Wouldn't you?

Increasingly it seems possible that Rick might have pretty much every plumbing gadget known to plumbers. No matter how obscure. In an effort to determine the truth I'm going to offer a reward to someone who can show they own a plumbing gadget that Rick does not.

              There are rules:

              1. You must submit a personal (not stock) photo and your description of the plumbing tool. If you don't have the tool, it doesn't count.

              2. The tool must be manufactured by a company and not be personally, or privately constructed.

              3. I don't think we can reasonably expect Rick to own every model of every jetter or snake (although he may well have them). So if Rick can demonstrate that he has a machine of similar design constructed for similar purpose then that's close enough. (I will be the arbiteur)

              4. Rick would need to demonstrate that he owns said device by the end of the contest. (Photo with Rick holding it and claiming he owns it will be sufficient). If nobody can come up with a tool in the next week. (Say by Memorial Day evening) then Rick wins the prize.

So what is the prize? I was thinking of a new plumbing van, but then Rick would go out and buy whatever it was no matter what. So, sadly, the prize must be trivial. I'm thinking a gift certificate to a restaurant chain for $15 which should be enough to cover two chocolate milk shakes. (How can Rick resist such enticement?)

              5. There is no limit to how many gadgets a person suggests.

              6. The first post to suggest a tool that Rick doesn't have wins.

              Good Luck to all!!!!

I will start the contest with a tool I've never seen another plumber have. I expect Rick to have three sets.

A Wheeler schedule 40 plastic internal pipe cutter. I've included one size, 4" but have the full set.
i don't have the same exact brand, but i do own an adjustable ridgid #109 copper and the 109p 2.5''-4'' plastic and 2 of the smaller copper version 102 1/2''-3/4''.

how about an internal cast iron cutter aka capitol both a 3'' and 4'' model. great for closet bends that are too high.

and of course the wheeler plastic cutters for salvaging the fittings and drilling out the plastic.

              rick.

mark can win it with that 1 of a kind flange wrench.

but i can win it with ridgid tools that nobody on the forum owns

i have some so obscure that they're no longer in the catalogs

how about my ultra violet freon leak detector.

                      my tapmatic reversible threading head.

my 6' long ratcheting underground tank wrench.

                      my 1/2'' drive impact chucks.

my cable insulation cutter and wire trimmer.

of course the oldest cast iron tripod vise minus the legs

i'm sure i have other odd stuff, just need to think about it.

                      that's just the ridgid stuff.

i'll have to get the photos together.

adam. i've had the same rod cutter for at least the last 6-7 years.

i have the hilti 600 single shot gun. shoots a larger load than the strips.

pex is just the manual wisboro expander. used it years ago, but still wating to get it started up again.

the plasma i have is a 240 volt 50amp beast.

The plasma cutter I use is sized to be portable onsite with it's own compressor. You not only lug the oversized pig you still need a compressor and gas.

Yeah o/k you have a powder actuated device. So do the libs(see below). You suppose theirs will work as good as my 460.Why do you need more load? All your going to do is blow out concrete and ruin the shot.
