I think he's expressing his opinion of the Manabloc.

I really like the remote manifold type of piping. It cuts the amount of joints (if using trunk and branch) and pipe down a lot. Pex in my opinion is too restrictive to do trunk and branch unless you oversize it.

yea I know you don't know JC but I am sure he will come back and tell us
too restrictive what? Oversize huh? have you experienced flow problems with pex trunk and branch systems?

                Re: MANABLOC Water Distribution System

                depends on the connection system

anything but wirsbo or rehau everlock is going to have some flow restriction

the ever popular zurnpex style fittings (to include apollo and countless other companies) have quite a bit of flow restriction

I haven't taken the time to measure it, but I would bet that the 3/4" fittings are about 5/8 ID... the 1/2" are 3/8" ID or so.

to address the original issue, I have no experience with the magnabloc... The few PEX manifolds I have done were made by me.

                  Re: MANABLOC Water Distribution System

Even Wirsbo (which is what I use) is pretty restrictive. If you choke a 3/4" supply line down with 1/2" or 5/8" id fittings at best 5 times the flow will suffer greatly. If you use a 5 port manifold in the general area you only use one 3/4 fitting on the main keeping it full port most of the way. It also alows you to use HWR without pulling off each fixture and having to balance it.

which wirsbo connection are you talking about?

the expansion ring fittings have little restriction

am I missing something? or are we talking about different things?

                      Re: MANABLOC Water Distribution System

It ID on a Propex 3/4 or 1/2" fitting is almost the same as a crimp fitting. The fitting walls are way thicker. It does make a big difference at 1" But are not "full port".

I haven't looked at them side by side in awhile... i'll have to look at that again

I thought there was a little restriction on the expansion fittings, but not as much as the crimp ring fittings.
