  • Non removeable valve seat

Anyone here ever repair them or do you replace them. In some situations it would be a great alternative to tearing a wall open. If you do repair them what do you use?

Take this hose bibb for example.....it has a non removeable seat. Sure its easy enough to just replace it but some jobs are not always a simple bibb replacement.

I have an old kit I got from my grandfather. It drills out the old fixed seat, then taps it and you can screw in a renewable seat.

If it is not dinged up too bad, you can get a seat dresser in there.

I don't have that fancy seat kit. So if the seat is trashed then the faucet gets replaced.

i have access to the same kit as ron. don't own it, but i can borrow it every 5 years when i come across a non removable seat.

hose bibbs are too cheap to mess with.

I have a seat grinder that I've probably used once in my Plumbing career.

WAS made by Chicago Specialty. To get one now you need a time machine, a garage sale or a grandfather that was a plumber.

I have no fear of even the cheap seat grinder sold at the home dumpster.
I've had a few hose bibbs i've made nice that would have involved cutting into sheetrock.

My set was made by sauxer Company. But again its is something you have to find or inherit.
