  • Hacktown never stops amazing me...

In my hacktown travels I came across this gem

Newly remodeled second story bathroom.... The ceiling below this bathroom collapsed.... I pull the toilet and this is what I see

    Speechless.....

Open up the ceiling and take a closer look at the underside... From the 90 back the toilet line is back pitched towards the vent not to mention the three deck screws screwed into the top of the line at key locations... This customer used an unlicensed plumber for this work.... I will be re-plumbing this bathroom next week...

    Job security...

    Wait, wait, wait...

By deck screw in key locations do you mean they screwed into the piping in an attempt to secure the pipe?

Did they think the wax was going to be a good enough seal between the flange and the pipe?

I'm just beyond speechless on this one. What the hell man.

Ask them who did it. Send the pictures to the contracting board. Call one of the local on the spot community reporters.

Seems the only way we're gonna' stop this stuff.

And I know nothing about HVAC. But wouldn't that vent cause condensation pretty badly being there?

        Thanks.

thats great!!! thats the systemic toilet flange that operates thru osmosis to guide the water thru space and into the tee on its back very important for system operation, thanks for posting never thought id see this.

I think the screws were just stupidity on the GC's part... Yes the Hack plumber thought the wax would be enough and I was speechless as well...lol

Customer paid the idiot with a check... The state Plumbing Inspector and I are buddies so he will get the call in the morning

Another $1000 fine will not slow this idiot down though *shrug*

JC the vent looks like a return so you wont get hot or cold air out of it ,but if this person did all the work you never know . even if it was hot air the water in the tank has to be really cold .

third pic, lower right hand corner...........

what are the black wires that are spliced together with black tape, in a concealed space I'm not a sparky but shouldn't they be in a junction box with access?

Maybe you need to contact the electrical inspector as well.

There are multiple code violations there but things probably would still have functioned.

But that closet flange is just a combination of sorriness and stupidity.

Bet she thought those pretty little tiles made it a great job though!

The fines for this kind of "work" need to be more painfull.

thats a fume extractor, not a vent.
