Don't know if you noticed in some of the trade magazines Ridgid has a similar design. It is read by the Microsoft Tag reader, which is an app for smart phones. When scanned it in my case it takes you to my website. In Ridgid's case in the ads it takes you to a product information page. You can also have ones that just have a text message embedded in the tag, or V-Card information to share contact information. http://tag.microsoft.com/consumer/index.aspx

Just a neat way for people with Smart Phones to scan a "Tag" and get directed to a website or get information. I liked the idea so I took the header off my website and added the Tag.

You know I've done it before but I like a quality wax better. It was used alot and with much success and the putty back then had more oil in it. It was better putty than what is made today.

About the only time i do it now is if I dont have a wax and thats lookign like once every 3 or 4 years. I dont feel the benefit of the extra cost is well spent compared to a wax seal.

                Wax rings here.

My pop told me that Plumbers back in the day always use to use putty. I just never attempted it..and would be scared to do so.

I've seen my pop do it once.

Sta-Put putty does not dry out like the old brands of putty. The plumber that made me his apprentice, told me he knock my brains out if he ever caught a wax ring on the truck.

Never had any leaks on the water closets I set with putty, so I am happy, along with my customers.

Sure it will dry out. I threw some sta-put away about a month ago because it dryed out,the top wasn't on it good and it went bad sitting on the shelf.

Right , putty dries out and crumbles. Wax on wax off for me

                              We've had this conversation before.

I use putty almost all the time. I've had a couple wax rings in the last couple months that I snagged the horn with the auger. That's not going to happen with putty. I also use putty on CI flanges 100% of the time. Putty scrapes off easy and I've never had one leak. You can get the putty down inside the flange too to make a funnel.

                              I use Black Swan putty:

                              http://www.blackswanmfg.com/STAYSOFTPLUMBERSPUTTY.htm

That stuff is awesome. They have some great products.
