  • Some "professional" piping I came across.

    Attachment Attachment Attachment

Look at the hot water tank, the valve is right on the tank and the vacuum relief is not piped in a way that allows it to be isolated for service. Also I would have at least 18" of copper of the top of the tank before transitioning to puss-pipe. This is a commercial job. Looks like it was put together by a first year apprentice with no supervision.
I don't mind pex, but this just looks like hackery to me.
The supports for the line to that commercial bibb?
    Makes you wonder........

Not here either. I like using pex but there are just some places you shouldn't. And if you're going to use pex at least use the good stuff not the cheap hardware store brand that every handyhack uses.

It would have looked so nice with copper against that wall.

No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.

I agree that I have seen lots worse, but for a commercial job, I really was quite surprised to find this level of "hackerism". Don't think that is a real word, but it fits.
Usually that kind of poor quality and lack of care to attention is kept to residential work, the inspectors, engineers, etc. who sign of on these commercial jobs usually provide more checks and balances insuring a higher level of quality in the finished product.

I like using pex... in the walls or under post and pier houses. In my jurisdiction it's illegal to run it exposed like that.
