  • Reducing a vertical stack

Situation..Having to offset a 4" cast iron stack form the 3rd floor to the 1st.I know you can't increase in size on the horizontal without using non concentric fittings..Would it harm anything to reduce form 4" to 3" on the vertical portion of the stack..A buddy is thinking he will haver to keep it 4"..I am thinking sewer size and stack vent size would somehow play into this ..

You can go from small to big on a waste stack and from big to small on a vent

You can keep your 4" Vent stack as is above all fixtures, you can use 3" all the way down for all your fixtures..... depending on the number of fixture units.
