I like having a box truck. No one knows what I have stashed in the back of that thing. Where some of the HVAC companies are pretty obvious with an open trailer behind their van.
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.

Re: OMG ! Code enforcement stake out !!!

Va Beach was strict, always had sting operations. The inspectors would follow buyers of water heaters, etc. But was it caused was higher labor rates. It was nothing to hear companies charge 1850 for a 50 gal electric or 350 for a mainline with outside cleanout. I also saw less hackish work there, the plumbing was just older. Here in california, there is no code enforcement at all so it causes labor prices to fall to crazy levels and I've seen lot's of bad work. I find it difficult to charge an honest price. Funny thing is I think there are 3 culprits...the unlicensed contractors, piss poor inspectors and Mike diamond. He advertises all the time about 99 drain cleaning, sight unseen, so people are used to paying 99 or less. Of course it's a loss leader but those who hear his radio ads get in that cheap mentality.
