    I have never understood why plumbers argue this issue. It's an opportunity to sell equipment and make more money.

      Simple, cuz the guy your quoting against, aint using one. Or getting a permit either.
      Non issue for us cuz they only require exp. tanks on commercial jobs here. But most owners don't even know what they are, or why they have them, much less maintain them. Seen them full of water, lots of times, & wondered how they held up there, without falling, or breaking off. And, most of the ones I see are not supported properly, for when they do get water logged. How many you seen installed horizontal, with no support?

      Personally I like them, cuz I think they help with water hammer issues too, but I aint installing one, if it aint required. Just saying.
