Sizing for the individual job specs...it is important. One size does not fit all or most.

    Re: Gas Regulator Spring

This is the wrong spring in a 5# gas regulator. The boiler only needed 6"wc at high fire. Since the boiler gas valve could handle 2psi someone installed a 1-3psi spring set to 2psi at high fire.

What effect did it have on the burner flame? The owner should appreciate what you did.

Its on a Aerco Benchmark so seeing the flame is out. I walked by it and heard the thing hunting. They had electrical issues so they decided to change the gas spring...go figure. The gas valve wasn't hardly opening up 20% at high fire and would go off when it was at low fire. They over size the gas valve. They use 2" and can get by with 3/4".
