    This is the spring on an older Eljer waste and overflow assembly.

    Length adjustments can be made either using the three holes at the top end, or by extending the circular loop in the middle.

        similar corkscrew spring used on the kohler tub pop ups. 90% of the time the stoppage/ hair is all caught in the spring. all you need is a screwdriver and no snake.

            What I found interesting about this particular Eljer spring is the three small holes were the only length adjustment. The prototypical spring on a popup assembly for a waste and overflow has maybe ten holes you put the cotter pin through. I try and use the trip lever waste and overflows precisely because the springs catch so much hair.
