  • Moen 1255

Hey guys, any ideas on why moen is switching out the 1225 for the 1255 in single handle kitchen faucets? What's wrong with the classics?

It is because of the low lead brass law that took effect in California and Vermont back in 2010. The manufacturers started changing the product lines to comply with that law. I believe it is called The Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act. All the states have to follow it starting Jan 4th, 2014.

Not just kitchen faucets, but lav faucets too. The new cartridges are more idiot proof to replace.

I was thinking it looked like a cross between Kohler and Valley.
Either way, not too impressed. First saw it on the L64621 lav faucet.
The handle stem looks Delta. Plastic valve body, bonnet nut, & of course the cartridge itself.
