    pipe dope

Loctite 565 is THE BEST. I have never had a leak when using it, even on big old crappy pipe & fittings. And you can use it when it's real cold outside. It's $$$ but still a bargain.

That's not necessarily true. I'll agree that thread condition is much more important than the brand of pipe used. However, special pipe dopes are often necessary depending on the type of pipe used (eg. stainless steel), and the type of system (eg. oxigen systems should not be installed with petroleum based pipe dopes).

dog what type of pipe dope do you use on stainless. Because a couple years ago we did a shut down in a factory with all threaded stainless and we used t-tape and regular dope. And we did have lots of leaks. like 7 or 8 on maybe 120 joints.
