  • Yo Josh!!!!

We need the Facts from Ridgid and you are the man to get them. You have not commented on any of the complaints about the band saws. We need you to check with the company and find out how many returns or CS compaints there are concerning the out of balance wheels and bad tires on the BS14002. Also find out for us when the new belt and pully system will be available on these saws. I understand you are more into the web side of the company, but you can find out this info for us or get someone who can. Dan

        Re: Yo Josh!!!!

my home depot guy tells me (along with a bunch of crap) that ridgids sales of the band saw are so poor right now that it will be disconutued this summer. is this true? if it is true will there be a replacement or just no more? i think it sells for 350 or so and i will be looking for one soon just not now but i would like a ridgid band saw but only if it will be made for more time i really don't want a crapsman but i need to know this answers as well so i know where i should be looking

OSC, you must have skipped over Rule #48. ... Unless he/she is a contributing member of this forum, don't believe a thing any HD employee tells you.

OSC, As I said in another thread, The Ridgid rep i talked with told me they were fixing the vibration issues by changing the type of belt and pullies they use on the band saw. That does not sound like dicontinuing it to me. LOL

When the upgrade goes into effect, they may offer it as a solution to vibration complaints by current owners. My old gray does not have the issue, I believe it is with the new orange for the most part.

                    Re: Yo Josh!!!!

Still waiting....it'd be nice if they could provide this for current owners. Mine definately won't pass the knickel test. It's ok as long as I'm not trying to resaw or make a long straight cut. Around 1' is fine. Anything more than that and forget it. Even at a foot, no matter what I try and do, it's not going to cut straight.
I put it all back together better than before. There\'s lots of leftover parts.

Dan, maybe a PM might accomplish more. Possibly the powers that be won't let Josh talk about what is or isn't in the works. If it were my company I know I wouldn't let anyone say a thing about new product until I was sure that all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed if you know what I mean.

I understand that Dave, this thread is to find out about how many bandsaw problems they really have. One of their reps told me about the belt upgrade, just didn't say when it would happen.

I wonder if there will be any news on this or other subjects at the IBS next weekend in Orlando.

                              Re: Yo Josh!!!!

Just to bump a bit, and an update. I just replaced the drive belt on my BS14002 with a 1/2" PowerTist Plus belt. The difference is amazing. I had read here how it made the saw work better, but I never expected merely replacing the belt to have such a dramatic difference!!! Most of the vibration is gone now. Keeping the same blade on it (not the original, however), I resawed the same board I had done just a half-hour before and it was much more even.
